Story: Man shot to death in Mission was subject of police warning

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Abbotsford Police want you to keep an eye out for a man they believe poses a “serious risk” to anyone around him.

Police say Varinderpal Gill is involved in the ongoing gang conflict in Abbotsford and across the Lower Mainland.

“Because many gang shootings occur in public places, this means Varinderpal Gill’s presence in public places creates a serious risk to public safety,” reads a news release.

Police also believe Gill poses a serious risk to other gang members in the conflict, and is also at risk himself.

Gill is 19 years old. He is described as 6’2″ and 165 lbs. He is known to go by the name “VP.”

In a rather unusual move, Abbotsford Police are asking anyone who sees Gill in a public place within the city to call 9-1-1. “Where possible, members of the APD will respond to that location and take steps to ensure the public are kept safe.”

Anyone with information about him is asked to call Abbotsford Police at 604-859-5225, text 222973 (abbypd), or to report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
