Annual Music Therapy Ride now a two-day fundraiser

PEMBERTON (NEWS 1130) – Only one week to go until this year’s Music Therapy Ride up the Sea-to-Sky highway, which gets underway Saturday August 25th.

The charity run featuring more than 150 motorcycles is back after taking a year off.

Patrick Zulinov, one of the founders, says they’re making up for time lost last year by stretching next weekend’s ride into a two-day fundraiser for Music Heals and Bikers for Autism.

“Well, the ride is taking a completely different shape. We are going up to Pemberton this time, escorted by the Vancouver Police Department, and add some more entertainment. We’re going to have four bands playing up there throughout the evening. We’re also offering a camping option for people if they’d like to stay over. Have a great time with us. They’re welcome to.”

Zulinov says, since 2001, more than a million dollars has been raised for numerous music therapy programs and the creation of 11 mobile recording studios.

“There’s a large number of programs that have been contributed to in Children’s Hospital, the burn ward, GF Strong, to centres for dementia and for Alzheimer’s which –anybody that needs music or can have music as an aid or an encouragement to help them through their healing, through whatever they’re going through on the medical side.”

The Boom Booms are headlining this year’s music festival which wraps up at the Rise and Shine Retreat.

Tickets are still available online and you don’t have to ride a motorcycle to take part.
