PNE celebrating big milestones this year

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s a big year for the PNE, with a few major attractions celebrating some important milestones.

Today is the opening day of the big fair and this year the big wooden roller coaster at Playland is celebrating it’s 60th birthday!

“We’re having a lot of fun with that,” says PNE President and CEO Shelly Frost.

“It’s also the 50th anniversary of the Pacific Coliseum and there’s been just so many amazing iconic moments in that building so there’s a tonne celebrate!”

She adds it’s also been a venue for the Super Dogs, which has been a can’t-miss show for many families for the last four decades.

“A lot of people don’t realized that the Super Dogs started right here at the Fair at the PNE…And although they perform year round all across the country, they have their biggest crowds right here at the PNE each summer.”

What’s new? An action sports show with a lot of aerial stunts, Knights of Valour is at the Agrodome including unscripted medieval jousting. And–because who doesn’t need to push it real good–Salt n Pepa is headlining a nineties theme night, just one of the many musical acts at the Fair this year.

Other acts include Boyz II Men, Kool and the Gang, Chicago, The Village People, Men Without Hats.
