Free crisis support line available for those affected by BC Wildfires

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – As hundreds of wildfires displace thousands of people in parts of the BC Interior, a Toronto-based human resources and technology company has set up a bilingual crisis support line for anyone in need of emotional support.

“Those who are impacted — wherever they might be in the province — we want to just make sure they understand that we care, and there’s a place in addition to all the other resources where they can get some support,” explains Noi Quao with Morneau Shepell.

Counsellors will be available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week to hear people’s thoughts, feelings, and concerns.

“Some of that is going to be perhaps concerns for someone in your household,” Quao says. “For someone who’s a parent or guardian, ‘what do I do, how do I talk about this with my kids?'”

The company provided this same type of support for the first time on a large scale during the 2016 wildfires in Fort McMurray.

You can reach the crisis support line at 1-844-751-2133. More information can be found at workhealthlife.com.
