One arrested, Mounties still search for second suspect after speeding car crashes into home

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Surrey have arrested a man and are looking for another suspect after they say a speeding vehicle crashed into a home in the area of 127 Street and 67A Avenue.

The Surrey RCMP says an officer who was out on patrol spotted a black Mercedes sedan speeding down 67A Avenue just after 6:00 p.m. Monday. Mounties claim the vehicle didn’t stop when the officer tried to pull the driver over.

“The vehicle continued to drive at a high rate of speed and a short time later it collided with a residence in the 12700 block of 67A Avenue,” the release reads.

The crash also sparked a fire, and left “extensive damage” to the house. No one was hurt.

Witnesses say they saw two people run from the scene, and one man was arrested nearby with the help of a K9 unit.

“No charges have been laid at this time as the investigation is ongoing.”

Police are hoping to speak with any witnesses who have not yet come forward. If you have any information about this incident or the second suspect, you’re asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604.599.0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477.
