WHISTLER (NEWS1130) – The RCMP is investigating after a U.S. couple hoping to see their son compete in the 2010 Games were swindled out of $8,000. Ben and Lois Mesler thought they’d rented a place in Whistler after dealing with a man on-line claiming he owned a duplex there.
However, after wiring the man the money, the man dropped off the face of the earth — turns out the place wasn’t his after all. Now, the New York couple is out the money and don’t have a place to stay to watch their son compete on the U.S. men’s bobsled team.
