Head of IPC: No need to combine Olympics with Paralympics

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  The head of the International Paralympic Committee feels the games should remain separate from the Olympics.

That’s because they’re doing just fine on their own, according to Sir Phil Craven.  The current president of the IPC disagrees with Robert Steadward, the founder of the committee, who suggested the Paralympics and the Olympics would be better together.

Craven tells the Vancouver Sun the Games would be diminished if they were combined with Olympics, he says the Paralympics want to stand on their own merit and have to attract media in their own right.    Having the Olympics held first also gives the added benefit of working out any bugs ahead of time.
