Cody Hodgson gets an upgrade

PENTICTON (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks have cleared forward Cody Hodgson for full contact.  Hodgson will join the main group tomorrow after skating with Group C and taking part in light contact/finesse drills over the weekend.

The 20-year-old has been attempting to come back from his recent back injury.

As the Canucks wrap up training camp in Penticton, the team has been split into two rosters in time for games Tuesday against the Calgary Flames in both Vancouver and Calgary.

Veteran players not playing in either game include Roberto Luongo,  Henrik and Daniel Sedin, Ryan Kesler, Mikael Samuelsson, Mason Raymond, Alex Edler, Christian Ehrhoff and Dan Hamhuis.

On Tuesday, fans at Rogers Arena will get a chance to see a team that includes Pitt Meadows native Brendan Morrison, Raffi Torres, Manny Malhotra, Kevin Bieksa and Cory Schneider.  Young forward Jordan Schroeder and newcomer Keith Ballard will be in the line-up for the Canucks squad that faces the Flames in Calgary (Rogers Sportsnet 6 p.m.) 

The Canucks have also assigned defenseman Sawyer Hannay and centre Alex Friesen back to their junior clubs and have released winger Matt Fraser.
