XXX-ting?

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) –  They are the new adult toys of choice. Smart phones and laptops may be speeding up the hook-up as people use their thumbs and fingers to poke, tap and swipe their partner right into bed

A survey in Men’s Fitness and Shape magazines suggests a majority of men and women believe texting and social networking sites like Facebook are speeding up the process. Many were asked out digitally, and texting is the top way lovers choose to stay in touch.

On the streets of Vancouver, we found at least one man who wishes his thumbs were getting more of a workout. “I’ve sent texts. I’ve sent pictures. But they’re non-intimate, no sexting,” he laughs. Here’s to hoping.

Blushing, one woman says she’s done it. “I think it’s accelerated [intimacy] but it’s so impersonal that it’s not really… good. It’s kind of fun in the moment but it’s not a replacement for real intimacy or actually meeting up with somebody and going on a real date.”

How addicted are we? Well, even in the heat of passion, five per cent of people will glance at their phone to see who texted and one per cent will actually stop and reply.

By the way, men are more likely than women to break up using a text.
