VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – David Suzuki accepted a lifetime achievement award in Vancouver last night for close to 50 years of environmental work. But he left the crowd with a dire warning.
Between spilled oil tainting our oceans and carbon flooding the atmosphere, David Suzuki says progress has gone backward, and we’re in worse shape than ever. He’s been telling us to change our ways for nearly half a century.
On the streets of Vancouver we met one man who tells us he’s trying. “A lot of people are doing a lot more; I know I am. Our family is doing a lot more than we used to… But I still think there’s a lot of people who have to give their head a shake and say ‘We’ve got to make some changes.'”
As an elder, Suzuki believes he has an enormous responsibility to pass on what he’s learned.
