What’s happened to the Canucks?

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The series started so well, but didn’t last long. The Canucks were hammered 5-0 by the Chicago Blackhawks last night in front of the hometown fans at Rogers Arena.

Roberto Luongo barely made it into the second period before being pulled. “With back to back embarrassing losses, you have to think something really sparked the ‘Hawks and egged them on,” says News1130 Sports Director Ann Schmaltz.

Captain Jonathan Toews admitted it may have been that big Raffi Torres hit in Game Three that concussed Brent Seabrook. Toews is sure it lit a fire under his team.

How can the Canucks bounce back?

“From here on out, they have to simply stick together and trust that all the success they had in the regular season was due to keeping things simple — and get back to doing them,” says Schmaltz. “Just have fun and go out and play hockey.”

“Absolutely the ‘Hawks have all the momentum,” she adds. “But I do think the Canucks can still win this series. It’s going to take complete trust in each other. They have to remember they are a good team that knows how to win. They have all the success of the regular season to draw upon.”

“I really liked hearing after the latest loss they have not quit on each other; that’s not an option,” notes Schmaltz.. “They still believe and now want to prove it to one another.”

Game six goes Sunday in Chicago.
