Two Canadians in contention at Shaughnessy

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford and David Hearn of Brampton, Ontario are in the hunt as round three of the RBC Canadian Open tees off at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club.

A fantastic 4-under 66 in Friday’s second round has Hadwin just two shots out of the lead.  This is just his third PGA Tour event but the 23-year-old is a two-time winner on the Canadian Tour and is playing on a sponsor’s exemption.

Hearn is also two off the pace after posting a second round score of 2-under 68.

Americans Michael Thompson and Chad Campbell share the lead at 4-under par through 36 holes.

Canadian Golf Hall of Famer, Mike Weir, was forced to withdraw early in his round Friday, citing soreness in an elbow.

No Canadian has won the national Open since Pat Fletcher did it back in 1954 just at Point Grey.
