VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Security has been beefed up at the Vancouver Law Courts in the best interest of public safety; several different gang-related hearings are underway all at once.
Security screens and blockades into courtrooms are set up everywhere. Yesterday, members of the gang task force watched as suspected members of the Dhak, the United Nations, Red Scorpions, and the Greeks gangs all made appearances for hearings.
Police are concerned about possible violence if the wrong people cross paths or if other gang members find their way into the courts.
They say they have another half-dozen cases with gang connections that they’ve submitted to the Crown for charges.
