LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – The BC Flagging Association is angry two of its members were seriously injured when a garbage truck slammed into them on Highway 1 on Wednesday night.
Diane Herback speaks for the flaggers and says it happened during a lane closure. The garbage truck slammed into the flaggers’ pickup truck and pushed it hundreds of feet.
“It’s amazing nobody was killed,” she says. “It’s very catastrophic and they don’t say alcohol was a factor or anything like that, but it still tells me somebody’s not paying attention.”
She’s again calling on drivers to slow down in construction zones, especially when it’s dark and raining.
“Just show us a little bit of respect. Slow down. Pay attention,” she says. “It’s not even just for us, it’s for all the public.”
