Eight BC Ferries sailings cancelled today

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – BC Ferries has cancelled eight sailings due to mechanical issues with the Queen of Oak Bay.

Deborah Marshall with the corporation says the cancellations are necessary as they move other ships around to cover for the Queen of Oak Bay. “Sometimes we don’t have to cancel sailings to achieve this; we can swap ships around. But unfortunately, today we did have to cancel some sailings in order to achieve it.”

“We’re going to be moving the Queen of Coquitlam off of the Departure Bay-Tsawwassen run, relocating that ship up to Horseshoe Bay. Then we are going to be relocating the Coastal Renaissance off of the Tswwassen-Swartz Bay run, moving that in place of the Coquitlam on the Departure Bay-Tswawwassen run,” she explains.

Cancelled sailings
6:30 a.m. from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay
7:45 a.m. from Tsawwassen to Departure Bay
8:30 a.m. from Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay
10:15 a.m. from Departure Bay to Tsawwassen
2 p.m. from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay
4 p.m. from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen
