VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks can take the first overall spot in the NHL standings with a win tonight against the Montreal Canadiens and a loss from the St. Louis Blues.

The Canucks (92) are a point behind the Blues (93) for top spot in the Western Conference as well as the overall league standings.

The Canadiens are all but eliminated from the playoff race in the east as they sit in last place in the conference with 62 points. They trail the New York Islanders by three points.

The two teams will be meeting for the second and final time this season. They played in Montreal on December 8th, and the Habs jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Vancouver stormed back to take a 4-3 victory in a shootout.

Montreal native Roberto Luongo will get the start in goal for the Canucks as he usually does against his hometown club. Carey Price of Anahim Lake, British Columbia will be between the pipes for the Canadiens.

Puck drop at Rogers Arena is 7 p.m.
