Foodie Friday: Cherry season has arrived!

By

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – It’s cherry season in the Lower Mainland!

There are lots of tasty ways to use plump, local cherries.

“Of course, you can eat them by the handful,” says Cassandra Anderton from Good Life Vancouver. “I suggest pitting them and throwing them in the blender. You can throw in a bit of fruit juice and make some popsicles or put them into your salads, make a salsa.”

So, head down to your local farmer’s market and get some cherries!

Summertime is a great time to head to one of Vancouver’s food destinations, Granville Island.

“Xanadu is now playing at the Arts Club Theatre,” notes Anderton. “And pre-Xanadu, I headed to the Dockside [Restaurant and Lounge]. The patios are spectacular!”

She suggests trying the chili squid, the oysters, or the mussels.

There is also a walnut festival at Vista d’Oro coming up on Sunday; try the wines and ciders and all the walnut-inspired cuisine.
