Child airlifted from Peace Arch border crossing

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Traffic heading into Canada at the Peace Arch was a little slow this evening as a toddler had to be medi-vaced over the border.

Carla was heading back into Canada with her father–waiting in the Nexus lineup when they got the news from an RCMP officer.

“We were sitting at the border about 10 [cars] back–and what happened is they closed all the lanes and the air ambulance came.”

There are unconfirmed reports that say the child had fallen off the top of a bunk bed in a home in Birch Bay.

Chris Harbord with BC Ambulance says they had to act quickly.

“We sent two ground ambulances and the air ambulance helicopter and transported [the] child to the hospital in serious condition,” she says.

The child was sent to BC Children’s Hospital but the condition isn’t known.
