ICBC taking VSA Highway Maintenance to court over potholes

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – ICBC has gone to court over potholes on the Coquihalla Highway.

The Crown Corporation is looking to get its costs back after a number of vehicles were damaged two years ago.

According to court documents, 19 vehicles were significantly damaged on February 4, 2011.

ICBC has filed suit against VSA Highway Maintenance, claiming the company failed to repair very large potholes or warn drivers about them.

VSA Highway Maintenance’s Bob Gilowski is denying the claim. “VSA’s position is that it met the contractual obligations with respect to pothole repairs on the Coquihalla highway.”

ICBC paid out the insurance claims, but is now looking to recover $38,000 from VSA.

“It is not unusual for ICBC to seek to recover monies paid out to vehicle owners for vehicle damage wherever possible,” says ICBC’s Adam Grossman.
