Fassbender relying on experience to win Surrey-Fleetwood

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – We knew he was going to run; now we’re finding out why.

Langley City Mayor Peter Fassbender says he’s relying on his track record as a public servant to help him get elected as a Liberal MLA in Surrey-Fleetwood, a riding currently held by the NDP’s Jagrup Brar.

He’s hinting at transportation promises south of the Fraser, saying “I am prepared to assist the minister and the government and the premier to find a solution so that we stop this blame game.”

Fassbender is also already taking jabs at his opponents.

“So, here’s the message for Adrian Dix and the NDP: I think every good government needs a good opposition and I’m going to work very hard to make sure that you continue to play that role.”

He admits he was approached by the party about running but he denies he’s been promised a cabinet position.

Your track record is nothing impressive. If this is what Peter Fassbender is banking on, then he ought to examine his strategies. What seems to be a forminable facade of liberals are now crumbling to pieces. Seriously, what real accomplishment did Fassbender made which have direct impact to the people ? If he was there just holding the baton, then I’m going to give you a real baton to knock your head off. and please do not run for goodness sake.

Wow, based on the total lack of comments on this story, it seems the Mayor’s track record hasn’t lit any fires. And don’t believe for a moment he hasn’t been tapped for a cabinet position. Based on all the TransLink interaction over the years, he’s the perfect candidate to be Transportation Minister. Well, that’s if he could get elected and the Liberals were to win. So effectively this announcement is his retirement speech from politics.
