Weise wins it for the Canucks in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN (NEWS1130) – Dale Weise banged in a rebound off a Maxim Lapierre shot midway through the third period to lift Vancouver to a 1-0 win over the Predators. Roberto Luongo made 23 saves for the shutout.

With his team playing their fourth game in six days, Luongo had to be sharp in the first period, as Nashville outshot the Canucks 13-3.

In the middle frame, Canucks Defenceman Kevin Bieksa left the contest. He tweaked a groin and did not return. He will undergo treatment over the next day and half to try and get ready for Sundays game.

Right before Weise’s first goal of the season, the Canucks just missed on a passing play by the first line.

During the lockout, Weise had 22 goals and 28 assists with the Tilburg Trappers in the Dutch Hockey Association.

He now has five goals in 95 NHL games.

It was the second shutout of the season for Luongo, and his 62nd career goose egg.

Vancouver wraps a four game road trip in Detroit on Sunday afternoon.
