Ford’s popularity not affected by claims of drug use: poll

TORONTO (NEWS1130) – A new poll reveals allegations of drug use have not affected Mayor Rob Ford’s popularity.
The poll, which was conducted by Forum Research, surveyed close to 1,400 Torontonians via telephone following Ford’s comments on Friday. The poll was published in the Toronto Star today.
It reveals Ford still has 36 per cent support — that figure is unchanged from early May.
However, the poll also shows that 36 per cent is not enough to win the next mayoral election, if Ford went head-to-head against potential contender Olivia Chow.
The mayor and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, returned to their weekly radio show this weekend and talked about how tough it’s been on their families, slammed the media, while denying all accusations.
“No matter what you say, I found out from the media, you’ll never make them happy. You can give them 10 bars of gold and they’re [going to say] ‘Why don’t I get 15 bars of gold?’ Well, folks, that’s the media that we have, unfortunately,” said Rob Ford.
