June expected to be drier and warmer than usual

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Get ready to turn the page on the calendar, and hopefully turn the page on some cool and wet weather.

News1130 Meteorologist Russ Lacate has the day off, but before he left we asked him about what it will be like in June. He says it’s looking good!

“In spite of how cool and wet the final week of May has been, our projections for June remain decidedly optimistic.”

“Although it has rained on 16 of the past 20 days, we’re looking ahead now at a June weather pattern that tilts towards the opposite end of the spectrum,” he explains. “Rainfall amounts are expected to be significantly below normal and the temperatures are anticipated to rebound to slightly above seasonal values.”

“That would mean daytime highs upwards of 20 degrees would be a regular occurance and we’ll begin the new month in style with the promise of a handful of warmer and sunnier days lined up for next week,” he adds.

Lacate doesn’t expect the coming month to be anything like last year’s ‘Juneuary.’

Summer officially begins June 21st.
