Facebook group helping brides affected by New West fire

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS1130) – The outpouring of support continues for people affected by a massive fire in New Westminster.
A Facebook group has been started by women looking to help brides-to-be that may have lost their wedding dresses in the fire.
“I’m getting tons of people coming forward to donate. There are many ladies willing to give up something that is so sentimental to them,” says Marisa Wiens who set up the Gowns for Golden Brides group.
“I was just thinking more along the lines of the brides that are in a pinch. If not maybe we can go more along the lines of getting a charity involved,” she explains.
Weins says she is moved by the support being shown from all over the province.
Golden Brides was one of dozens of businesses destroyed last week when a fire ripped through a heritage building on Columbia Street.
