Committee will address rumours over Kits Beach bike lane

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A bike path through Kitsilano is causing a lot of concern in the community.

The path through Kitsilano Beach Park is meant to connect the bike lanes on the Burrard Bridge with Point Grey Road.

Park Board commissioner Constance Barnes says an advisory committee has now been formed to deal with the rumours swirling around the project. “There’s a lot of misconceptions and a lot of things being said that aren’t true. So, benches being taken out, trees being cut down, the white lines that were painted by not Park Board staff, that has all created a lot of confusion.

She adds that although the project will go ahead, the route can still change.

People against the path will be holding a protest in Kits Beach Park Sunday.
