Two Giants hockey players facing assault charges

DELTA (NEWS1130) – Two Vancouver Giants players are in the middle of a successful season on the ice but are dealing with some off-ice issues.

Winger Jackson Houck and defenceman Brett Kulak are facing assault charges stemming from a fight at a party in August.

The incident and the house that it was at had absolutely nothing to do with the Vancouver Giants hockey team so they weren’t there representing themselves as Giants. It was a gathering that they were attending and some words got out of hand,” said Delta Police Sgt. Sara Swallow.

She says both were first charged in October after police followed up.

“We learned that there was a fight there and in following up with that investigation it was determined that there were sufficient grounds to lay assault charges and it was against the two Vancouver Giants.”

Kulak is also charged with uttering threats.

He’s due back in court November 20th while Houck heads back at the end of February.
