Body of missing senior found by hiker in North Vancouver

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The worst fears of search crews has been realized as the body of a missing elderly woman with dementia in North Vancouver has been discovered.

A hiker found 76-year-old Joan Warren’s body not far from the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge around 3:30 p.m.

Mounties say it’s likely she died from hypothermia after a weekend of freezing temperatures.

North Shore Search and Rescue crews had called off their search today due to do a lack of new information regarding her whereabouts. Tim Jones with NSR said they suspended the search because they had done all they could up to that point.

The woman, who suffered from dementia, had been missing since Friday morning.
