VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A temperature inversion is to blame for the unusual mix of weather we’ve been experiencing in the Lower Mainland.
News1130’s Andrea Macpherson rose above the clouds to get a better idea of what the inversion looked like from the top of Grouse Mountain.
She says a thick, dense, white layer blanketed Vancouver, but above the clouds, it was blue skies and warm temperatures and skiers and snowboarders were taking full advantage of the nice weather.
It was a sea of jeans and t-shirts as people enjoyed the 10 degree weather. “It’s so nice to get away from the rain and just get into the sun a bit and have some fun in the snow,” says one woman.
A temperature inversion pulls the warm air upward, leaving the rest of us in the city experiencing cooler temperatures.
