RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – Excitement is taking off today for aviation lovers; the first scheduled service to use a Boeing 787 Dreamliner has made its arrival at YVR this morning; it was a Japan Airlines flight arriving from Tokyo.
The route will be daily as of next month.
Aviation expert Karl Moore with McGill University says it’s a game changer.
“The altitude that you fly at is lower, so it’s easier [on your] breathing. It’s a more pleasant experience. They have bigger windows. It’s a very quiet plane. It does take customer comfort to the next level,” he explains.
He adds Boeing has been working hard to fix safety concerns with the Dreamliner after several reports of on-board fires.
“They’ve really leaned into it and got their engineers out there, along with the manufacture of the battery. It appears at this point they’ve cracked the problem. But life is uncertain. But I’d have no problems flying the plane at this point, that’s for sure,” says Moore.
