YouTube video shows student kneed by Vancouver police officer

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A disturbing video has been posted online showing what appears to be a Vancouver Police officer kneeing someone in the back at a rally in Vancouver.

The description of the footage says it’s a high school student, and the person can be heard yelling “I’m a minor” as his hands are put behind his back.

“It’s fairly clear in the video that the person being arrested isn’t being cooperative, isn’t compliant with the officers and unfortunately force is sometimes necessary,” says VPD Constable Brian Montague.

He says no official complaint has been launched, but he confirms three people were arrested at the May Day protest on Thursday.

“I won’t speak specifically about how someone may interpret what they see in the video. The video is a very small portion of a larger event obviously.”
