VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Every May long weekend in this province there are, on average, nearly 2,000 crashes on our roads.
Officers will be out catching drivers who are doing things like tailgating and speeding.
John Dickinson with ICBC says plan ahead by overestimating how long it will take you to get where you need to go.
He adds visibility can also be an issue. “The sun at a certain angle and it’s creating new challenges, that’s a problem. When you look at stats around weather, weather is always a factor when you’re driving on the roads. That includes the bright glare of the sun.”
He says fatigue can be another problem.
On average, nearly 500 people are injured in crashes this weekend.
