VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The insurance industry is warning that people better get used to more frequent weather disasters.
The warning comes a year after flooding in southern Alberta.
The industry has made some changes including increased premiums, lower deductibles and changes in the extent of coverage and investments in customer education.
It is also asking the federal government to work on a national flood insurance program.
People are advised to call your broker if you have questions about your coverage.
If you’re stuck in a disaster situation, take steps to reduce damage like moving valuables and getting someone to check your property if you are away.
