SURREY (NEWS1130) – Some Grade 12 students hoping to teach classes to younger kids in Surrey during the education dispute have run into a bit of a roadblock.

Grade 12 student Jun Ho Kim says they were originally promised some classroom space at Clayton Heights Secondary but he got a phone call today from the principal saying it was no longer possible.

They were hoping to teach classes like math and english to help prepare kids who are new to high school.

“It was a great opportunity for kids who are well versed in classes that they can teach other kids and have the opportunity if they wanted to become a teacher they have this opportunity in their resume or course credits,” explains Ho Kim. “I just wanted to give them the introduction, introductory classes to high school so they won’t feel so left out and confused when high school starts again because we might have to rush courses because there’s not enough time to fit everything in once school starts.”

He says they are now trying to find another location but it’s not easy. They need somewhere with enough space to fit the students who are interested, it needs to have tables and a whiteboard.
