Fire damages two boats in False Creek

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130)-Two boats are damaged after a fire at a marina near the south end of the Burrard Street Bridge this evening.

Assistant Chief Tyler Moore with Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services says putting out the blaze was challenging.

“Before the fireboat came around they were struggling to lay lines to where the boat was located out at the dock. They had to do long hose stretches to access the boat with their hose lines.” he says.

He says the fire spread to a nearby vessel.

Two fireboats and a Coast Guard hovercraft were rushed to the scene. Only one fireboat was used to fight the fire.

Moore says one fireboat sailed in from the SeaBus dock, the other from Main St dock. He couldn’t say how long it took the fireboats to get to the fire.

No one was hurt.

An investigation is underway to determine how the fire started.
