A unique collaboration brings Harry Houdini’s story to life

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A play based on the life and death of magician Harry Houdini is coming to Vancouver. “The Confabulist” is a collaboration between an illusionist and a well known local author.

With tricks that promise to leave audiences incredulous, author and UBC Professor Steven Galloway says the play explores the limitations of memory, and reality versus imagination.

“So what I am going to do is talk about the ways your brain tells story and turns in into memory. If you show someone A and C, they will remember having seen B,” he explains.

He adds Illusionist David Gifford will joining him on stage to perform short, magical acts to bring to life the concepts being discussed. “He’ll do a trick that will sort of utilize the flaw in the system that the memory uses to illustrate that.”

The all ages show is happening at the Chan centre on the night February 26th at 7:30pm
