Investigation trumps construction at tower in Downtown Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The City of Vancouver has stopped work at the Trump Tower construction site downtown after a pane of glass fell onto Georgia Street yesterday afternoon.

The city’s Chief Building Official Pat Ryan says they’re still trying to figure out what happened.

“All work on the project stops and that gives us time to go and basically, have them get back to us about what happened, why, and preventative measures that can be put in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

Yesterday afternoon the glass fell in the middle of Georgia Street.  Crews were quick to clean it up.

“Our response immediately was to send down an inspector and a deputy chief building official to go see what happened.  The building site, to their credit, stopped all the exterior work and lifting immediately.”

No one was hurt.
