West Coast Express delays continue months after TransLink apologizes

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) – People taking the West Coast Express were late getting home tonight, which seems to be the case many days.

The mayor of Maple Ridge says it’s time TransLink worked out a better solution with Canadian Pacific.

Many times the delay is caused by a freight train blocking the track.

Nicole Read says the commuter train is their only transit option into the city.

“We don’t have a lot of transit services that connect people with their jobs out of city. There is heavy reliance on the West Coast Express. So, our residents need to see that the service on the West Coast Express is reliable.”

TransLink even offered an apology for the spotty service in January, but wasn’t able to give an update on any progress made with CP.
