Husband and wife guilty of murder conspiracy in BC bomb plot

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130)- The husband and wife accused of planning to set off pressure cooker bombs at the BC Legislature on Canada Day two years ago have been found guilty on two charges.

A jury has found John Nuttall and Amanda Korody guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and possession of an explosive substance on behalf of a terrorist organization.

Both offered no reaction as the verdict was read. The trial lasted nearly four months.

But a judge still must enter the verdicts.

Defense lawyers have asked the judge to consider whether entrapment was involved.

They argued the RCMP manipulated the pair with their undercover sting and nothing would’ve happened if the two were not pressured.

They described the couple as former drug addicts who were given a purpose when they were befriended by the undercover officers.

The Crown has said all along the two knew exactly what they were doing.

The second part of the trial will resume next week.
