Owner of motorcycle that tore through Guildford Mall fined $13,500

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – The owner — not the driver — of a motorcycle caught on video speeding through parts of Surrey and then tearing through Guildford mall is facing significant fines.

That person will have to pay $13,500.

The violation tickets include 58 traffic infractions like failing to stop for police, excessive speed, disobeying red lights, and driving without insurance.

Police say the actual driver was never found but the motorcycle was seized. But there is a provision under the Motor Vehicle Act that allows for penalties for incidents on the road even if the owner wasn’t present.

It says registered owners must be responsible for their vehicles at all times.
