Vancouver is at potential risk of a terror attack: Report

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – There is more proof Canada is in the cross-hairs of terrorists. That’s the upshot of a new report from the Integrated Terrorism Assessment Centre that suggests Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and Edmonton are all potential targets.

It ranks amongst four Canadian regions with a threat level of “medium,” which is defined by the Itac report, as a place where a lone-wolf or small group inspired by ISIS has the capability and the intent to launch an attack. An attack which is similar to what happened on Parliament Hill last October, a lone-wolf shooting carried out by Michael Zehaf-Bibeau.

“It is cause for a scrutiny. It is cause to be on guard, but it’s not cause for concern that there is anything imminent that’s going to happen around the corner,” explains security expert David Hyde.

“They know they can get a very big bang, if you will, for a very small amount of investment in terms of time and planning, so the authority’s power really is knowledge. Canadians need to now more than ever before,” adds Hyde.

Threat levels are public knowledge in in places like the United States and Europe, but not in Canada.
