Assault in Surrey leaves young man with life threatening injuries

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – A man in his early 20s is in the hospital with life threatening injuries following a vicious, early morning assault.

He was found badly injured in the backyard of a home around 70B Avenue and 132nd Street.

RCMP Sergeant Bill Parmar says it’s unclear if this targeted or random. “So we have members on scene there trying to determine the nature of what caused the injuries. It’s still early in the investigation. We are just trying to determine how the male ended up there, if that is the location and what caused these injuries.”

“Right now he is being treated at Royal Columbian Hospital. The only update I have received right now is that he has suffered some significant injuries and is being treated right now,” he adds.

There is no indication the attack is connected to the ongoing drug turf war in Surrey and Delta that is linked to nearly two dozen shootings in recent months.
