Ground and helicopter crews fight fire on Burnaby Mountain

By

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – A fire on Burnaby Mountain was knocked down quickly but fire crews will stay in the area going forward because the threat remains high.

The fire was knocked down quickly and it never grew large enough to be a major threat.

Deputy Chief Chris Bowcock says the response time was typical for the situation but they are concerned about tinder dry conditions going forward. “We are looking at pre-staging resources up in that area and remaining on scene in that area so we are a lot closer to the high hazard areas”

Bowcock says the fire was likely sparked by humans but don’t have an exact cause yet.
