Are your kids bored with summer vacation? Here’s a list of things to do!

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Congratulations, parents! You’ve made it halfway through summer vacation.

But with a little more than a month to go until school starts again, it’s getting tougher to keep little minds and bodies busy.

The next time your kids tell you they are bored and there’s nothing to do, maybe pack them up and take them out to one of the many activities in the Vancouver Family Summer Bucket List 2015.

Christine Pilkington with VancouverMom.ca has posted her top 100 activities to “inspire your summer adventures” around the Lower Mainland, including some new attractions and plenty of classics.

“One that’s on my list is the zipline in Queen Elizabeth Park,” she tells NEWS 1130. “Any child can do it — the only restriction is that you have to weigh between 60 and 250 lbs.”

Hastings Park is also on her summer must-do list.

“It was recently renovated by the city and they’ve also redone the Empire Field with a beautiful track and gorgeous playground. There’s even work out equipment or, if you want a change of pace, you can also check out the Momiji Garden — a secret Japanese garden and lagoon — and feed the ducks.”

Another Pilkington family favourite is Jericho Beach, especially when the tide is way out. “We like to meander out into the sand and then have some fish and chips before checking out all the rabbits that live there.”

Science World is a classic kid destination which you may find refreshingly less crowded during the sunny summer months.

“Really, it’s probably best to go there when the sun is shining — you can enjoy the exhibitions a little bit more. And this year, they have a slumber party going on so you can actually sleep there with the dinosaurs.”

For the penny-wise parent, Pilkington has a lot of cheap or even free suggestions.

“In terms of cheap, a lot of of people only think of Playland when it comes to amusement parks. But if you are into a road trip to Cultus Lake, there is actually a new amusement park out there and you can get an all-day pass, including all the rides, for $20.”

She also suggests taking in a Vancouver Whitecaps WFC2 game as a more affordable alternative to catching the ‘Caps MLS team at BC Place.

“You can go out to Thunderbird Stadium at UBC and enjoy a day there. Tickets are as inexpensive as $15 and they also have special pricing for families.”
