VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The new minister in charge of TransLink thinks there’s a need for some sort of charter between the organization and the public.
Still, he isn’t saying what that would look like.
“Agreement between TransLink and the public as a result of the plebiscite is really important. What that looks like, how we do that… I need to work with the mayors to get there with the management and the board,” says Peter Fassbender to City News.
He notes he’s willing to work with those mayors and the board during the hiring process for TransLink’s new CEO
Fassbender says he understands taxpayers aren’t happy when they hear about big salaries.
“What we have to do is change perceptions to reality, be very clear, have people understand why is someone being paid what they’re going to be paid — whatever that is.”
He adds this is a time to pause and rebuild the organization.
Before entering provincial politics, Fassbender pleaded for action from Victoria to help solve transit problems in the Fraser Valley.
