Techera scores as Whitecaps beat FC Dallas

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps are back in first place in the MLS Western Conference standings as they moved past Los Angeles with a 1-0 victory over FC Dallas at BC Place.

Cristian Techera scored the lone goal, as he tallied in the 32nd minute for his fifth goal of the season. Kekuta Manneh cut across the top of the box before putting the ball towards goal, and Techera made a back-heel re-direct to open the scoring.

Whitecaps keeper David Ousted saw seven shots head his way in the victory and had to stop two of them to earn the clean sheet. Ousted is second in the league with 10 shutouts this season, and leads Major League Soccer with 14 wins.

Vancouver (14W-3D-9L) has fared well following a loss this season. With the win over Dallas, the ‘Caps are now 5-2-2 in games immediately following a loss. The victory moves the Whitecaps two points ahead of the Los Angeles Galaxy. Los Angeles will be in action on Sunday against New York City FC.

The Whitecaps will be back in action on Wednesday as they’ll host the Montreal Impact in the second leg of their Canadian Championship match-up. Vancouver’s next MLS game will be next Saturday on the road against the Houston Dynamo.
