LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS 1130) – BC Hydro’s website says the number of customers with out power is now down to under 3,000 customers.

Most of the outages are spotty. Hydro hopes to have all power restored by the end of the day.

An estimated 500,000 customers were left without power on Saturday, when a windstorm hit the South Coast. As of yesterday morning, there were still nearly 60,000 customers without power.

Crews have been logging some extremely long shifts in the past few days, with BC Hydro saying many were working 16-hour shifts with eight-hour breaks in between.

Hydro’s website went down during the height of the storm; utility was updating customers via social media during the height of the storm.
