Four local candidates talk strategies for seniors

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – A forum in Surrey featured a debate by four local candidates surrounding seniors.
It was called Care To Chat.
Conservative Diane Watts and Liberal Ken Hardie focused on the economy. “A key area of investment is innovation and technology,” says Watts.
Hardie also promised a national dementia strategy.
NDP candidate Pixie Hobby talked about a national strategy for Alzheimer’s and dementia. “Invest in patient-focused homecare allowing seniors to stay in their homes longer, this will free up beds.”
While the Green Party’s Claire Martin had a different take. “Poverty is the leading cause of health-care issues in seniors and part of our seniors strategy is dealing with poverty and defining what we call a guaranteed livable income.”
All the candidates agree money should be ear-marked at the federal level for seniors.
