Markstrom makes 42 saves in Canucks’ win over the Blue Jackets

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Canucks got back into the win column with a 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets in Columbus.

Goaltender Jacob Markstrom made 42 saves in his first start of the season coming off a hamstring injury.

Markstrom would have been the big star of the game — except for the play of Jannik Hansen. Hansen had four points — a goal and three assists — playing on the top line with the Sedins.

Henrik Sedin scored twice in the third including one into the empty net to put the game away.

It was also Vancouver’s first game against former head coach John Tortorella.

With the win, Vancouver improves to 7-4-5 on the season, keeping pace with the leaders in the Pacific Division.

The Canucks continue their road trip in Ottawa on Thursday.
