How much would you spend on a bottle of beer? How about $1,000?

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – How much would you pay for a bottle of beer? What if you and just nine other people were the only ones in the world to have it?

A local brewery is about to introduce a bottle that will set you back $1,000.

It’s James Walton’s most creative beer. The owner of Storm Brewing says Glacial Mammoth Extinction is a sour beer that’s been frozen and aged in oak barrels, but it’s the packaging that may leave your pockets empty.

“There’s an artist locally that makes mammoth sculptures and stuff like that from ivory from extinct mastadons, so I thought, ‘Hey, I’d see what he has. He had some little pendants and stuff that he could make for me.”

A glass blower made the ten bottles.

Why do it?

“The wine guys do it all the time. Why the hell shouldn’t we do it?” says Walton.

The beer goes on sale December 5th, but you don’t have to buy one of the just 10 bottles being produced; the brew is available minus the expensive casing.
