Major construction will shut down lanes in Vancouver

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver is warning drivers about some major road projects starting in the spring.

Perhaps the most disruptive will be replacing aging water and sewer lines on Burrard Street from Davie Street to 16th Avenue.

There are also improvements for the Burrard Bridge and the intersection of Pacific Avenue, which has the second highest collision rate in Vancouver.

Lon LaClaire with the city says there will be lane reductions along Burrard for a year and a half.

“On the bridge itself, for most of the time, we have three lanes that will be operational and sometimes that will be two lanes operating northbound, sometimes that will be two lanes operating southbound.”

He’s urging drivers to use the Granville Bridge instead.

Similar work happens on Marine Drive from Granville Sreet to the UBC area starting in May.

That work could last a couple of years and avoid Pender from Cambie to Seymour, with more underground work.
